I’m Stump, I am the grunt (literally, I out grunt anyone around), and I like to play dumb (my sister interjects here, “He’s not playing”). My favorite phrase is “Nothing to worry about.” I do not know what wood I like best. I love looking at all the different woods! Have you ever heard of sweet Gum wood? They call it poor man’s mahogany…. Which means that it’s right up my alley. When it gets old enough it has a wide variety of colors; ranging from nearly white to deep purple.

I’m J.B., my family calls me the mad scientist! I’m the one who figures things out for us (hey! our options are limited). I can probably tell you what pitch the sawmill is running at and if Stump is about to mess up his sawing or not. I can tell you about all the densities of the different woods and the different sounds they make while we are sawing them. And don’t be surprised if I’m barefoot and drenched with sweat from the top of my bald head to the bottom of my calloused feet. Pretty much if you need to talk about anything “brainy” I’m the best hillbilly to talk to.
My favorite woods are Tulip Poplar and Blue Pine.
